On July 27, representatives of UMJC congregations from throughout the United States, as well as Canada and Brazil, meeting in Bellevue, Washington, unanimously passed a resolution supporting Israel as a Jewish state. The resolution also expressed opposition to economic sanctions against Israel, including a recent boycott of Israeli products by the Olympia Food Co-op in Olympia, WA.

The resolution reaffirms a 2001 statement of support for Israel and states that "peace cannot be attained apart from recognition of Israel's legitimacy as a Jewish state, along with recognition of the just aspirations of her neighbors." It also opposes "in principle all such boycotts, divestments, and sanctions against Israel," and concludes, "The UMJC commends the Co-op for its long history of social justice work. In this case, however, true justice will be carried out when the Co-op's ill-conceived boycott of Israeli products ends."
