Sin and the Dentist

My teeth are a little crooked at one place in my mouth, and the dental hygienist, when I went in for my six-month cleaning, said, "Yes, you could get braces if you wanted, but it isn't really a problem.  When they are crooked, it's easier for the tartar to build up there.  It just means a little more work for you."

So I was thinking as she was scraping and suctioning about how the time will come when He will make "every crooked thing straight."  There will be no place for tartar to hide.

As the hygienist continued (I know this is wild,  but this is the way G-d made me), I thought about how tartar is like sin.

bullet

It's not that noticeable to begin with.

bullet

It is always ready, looking for a place to lodge.

bullet

It works in secret..

bullet

One time of not brushing gives it room

bullet

It provides a sticky surface which attracts other tartar.

bullet

It hardens-- causing damage, working insidiously at the gum line, on the enamel, wearing away...

bullet

Quietly producing destruction, expense, sorrow...

And I thought about how Yeshua is continually willing to cleanse us.  "If we confess our sins, [agree with Him about what He says about it and turn from the sin, yielding our hearts to G-d intending obedience]  He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Yeshua said, "If the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed."

G-d said, "Let My people go, that they may worship Me."

G-d is our Redeemer.  If we ask Him, trust Him, and obey Him, He will cleanse us from all sin and make the crooked straight.   Yeshua promised, "Seek first the kingdom of G-d and His righteousness [making Him and His interests our first priority], and all these things [food, clothing, whatever is essential and needed] will be added to you."

Messianic Jews (Hebrews) 3:13.." but exhort one another day by day, so long as it is called "today;" lest any one of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin."
