Did
you forget?

Have you
ever forgotten
-- to pay
a bill?
-- the words to a tune?
-- to turn the water or stove off?
-- a friend's name?
-- a doctor's appointment?
-- to rsvp?
Can a nursing mom forget
her baby? Maybe... but only under the most dire of
circumstances.... and even then, her body would remind her as would her
baby's cry. Could a mother forget to have compassion on her child?
Maybe... or even yes.
Why do we forget things?
 |
Too much on our
plate... |
 |
Too many
distractions... |
 |
It was not important
enough.. |
 |
We are only human... |
 |
|
Here's something to remember:
| יג רָנּוּ שָׁמַיִם וְגִילִי
אָרֶץ, יפצחו (וּפִצְחוּ) הָרִים רִנָּה: כִּי-נִחַם יְהוָה עַמּוֹ,
וַעֲנִיָּיו יְרַחֵם. {ס} |
13 Sing, O heavens, and be joyful, O earth, and break
forth into singing, O mountains; for the LORD hath comforted His
people, and hath compassion upon His afflicted. {S} |
14 But Zion said: 'The LORD hath forsaken me, and the
Lord hath forgotten me.' |
15 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should
not have compassion on the son of her womb?
Yea, these may forget,
yet will not I forget thee. |
| טז הֵן עַל-כַּפַּיִם, חַקֹּתִיךְ;
16 Behold, I have
graven thee upon the palms of My hands; thy walls are
continually before Me. |

G-d doesn't forget us.

V'Ani ki lo eshkhakhen |

He cares about every single person He created.
He knows all the hairs on our heads... something we don't even bother to
know about ourselves.
G-d does not slumber or sleep.
He cares... even when life seems to yell that He doesn't.
He remembers every one of your wounds and tears and keeps them in His
bottle, Psalms says.
Joseph, locked in a prison and seemingly forgotten...
Naboth, whose field was cruelly taken by Ahaz through deceit...
Elijah by the brook that was drying up...
The widow who had only a tiny bit of oil and
a handful of flour left in her pantry who was gathering the two sticks
out by the city gate to make a fire, make some bread, and feed it to her
son and to herself before they died...
The widow gave to G-d the offering that she had...
the first piece of bread.

G-d does
not forget us.
He even knows exactly what we have left in our
pantry. (I don't even know what's in my pantry, but He does.)
He knows exactly when His provision is going to show up and how He is
going to provide. It may not be the way we expect. He asks
us to give we have right now for His name's sake.
He asks us to trust Him.
No
matter
how
life
seems.
We may forget, but He says He does not forget us,
not for one moment.
