Israel’s Strike on Iran Inspires Prayer throughout the Messianic Jewish Community
In the early morning hours of June 13, Israel announced that it had launched a massive preemptive strike against Iran and its nuclear capabilities. Authorities warned citizens to be on the alert and stay close to bomb shelters as they anticipated possible attempts at reprisal by Iran.
Russ Resnik, UMJC Rabbinic Counsel, cited this verse from the Torah portion for this week, Beha’alot’cha, Numbers 8:1-12:16:
Qumah Adonai, Arise O Lord, and let your enemies be scattered;
let those who hate you flee from before you. (Num 10:35)
Rabbi Resnik noted the special relevance of this verse in connection with Israel’s strike on Iran and the threat of reprisal, and suggested several additional prayer points:
Divine protection for Israeli airmen and others involved in direct combat.
Wisdom for Israel's political and military leaders as Operation Rising Lion (Numbers 23:24) unfolds.
Wisdom for US leadership, to take a clear stand with Israel and provide solid backing for Israel's defense.
Public support for Israel in the USA and worldwide to remain strong and unshaken.
Protection and minimal casualties among Iran's civilian population, as well as among Israel's civilians.
Complete failure of Iran's attempts at counterattack.
Collapse of Iran's current regime, which oppresses its own people and fuels terrorism and chaos throughout the Middle East.
And above all, for peace and the knowledge of God to somehow arise amidst these horrific events.
The Messianic Jewish community is raising its voice in solidarity with the many thousands calling on the Lord for mercy and help in this current crisis.
