In Loving Memory of Ralph Finley

Ralph Finley, long-time and beloved leader of UMJC member congregation Ahavat Yeshua in Washington, DC, passed away the evening of July 20 after a prolonged battle with renal cancer. In addition to his service as a congregational leader, Ralph was a respected friend and colleague among the Union community, known for his warm-hearted and open demeanor as well as his deep commitment to Yeshua and the Messianic Jewish community. Ralph was a gifted teacher and, as his memorial notes, “those who knew Ralph remember more than his teaching. They remember his kindness, his listening ear, his ready smile, and his genuine concern for people. He celebrated with those who rejoiced, wept with those who mourned, and sought to encourage people with truth and grace. His influence continues in the congregation he shepherded, the lives he touched, and the many people who were strengthened by his faithful example.”

Ralph is survived by his wife, Sandra, with whom he celebrated a fortieth wedding anniversary a few weeks before his passing, as well as his children, Jonathan Edwin Finley and his wife, Stephanie Finley; Rebeckah and her husband, Adam Brickley; Benjamin and his wife, Ariana; and Joshua and his wife, Manar; and six beloved grandchildren.
